2. a discourse or lecture that is moralizing or admonitory in nature
3. a platitude, cliché, catchphrase or saying that is inspirational in nature
 USAGE EXAMPLE 1 :
 A homily seeks to correct behaviour through the moral of its story.
 USAGE EXAMPLE 2 :
 In his homily Father Brian Darcy told mourners that the singer had secretly given tens of thousands of euro to the poor during his career.

 1. (intr.v.) to infringe, trespass or encroach
