However peaceful resolution seems a far cry as there have been 3 failed flag meetings and the Chinese have erected another tent and put up signs claiming the face-off site to be their territory. • Jet to sell 24% stake to Etihad Airways for Rs 2,058 crore, Etihad extends $300 million soft loan to Jet Jet Airways would sell 24 per cent equity comprising 27.26 million shares to Etihad Airways for about Rs 2,058 crore. The deal would give Etihad a strong foothold in India as well as help Jet to repay debt and get global expertise from Etihad.Etihad has extended a $300 million soft loan to Jet Airways at a rate of only 3 percent which will help Jet replace its high cost loans and save $30 million (Rs. 162.75 crores) annually. • More than 350 dead as building housing textile factories collapses in Bangladesh More than 350 people died and 800 were badly wounded after an 8-storey building that housed several readymade garment factories collapsed in Savar, on the outskirts of Dhaka. The disaster questions the worker-safety standards followed in Bangladesh's booming garment industry. • Chit fund scam accused blames Nalini Chidambaram and prominent Trinamool Congress MPs in letter to CBI Chit fund scam accused Sudipta Sen had written a letter to the CBI on April 6th in which he has blamed Nalini Chidambaram,wife of Union Finance Minister P. Chidambaram and two Trinamool Congress MPS for extracting huge sums of money from him and using him to serve their personal interests.The West Bengal government will set up a 500-crore relief fund for depositors of the chit fund,by imposing an additional 10 per cent tax on tobacco products and auctioning seized assets of the Saradha group. • Govt hikes import tariff value of gold to $472/10 grams Government has raised the tariff value of gold to $472 per 10 grams on account of a volatile rate trend in global markets. Tariff value is the base rate on which the customs duty is determined to prevent under-invoicing.
