Prasanna is the world's greatest Carnatic guitarist. He learned the guitar at an early age in Chennai, India, playing Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath, Carlos Santana and many more. But in a culture steeped in Carnatic music, he decided to learn to play this on the guitar - and did it brilliantly. Since then not only does he play Carnatic music with traditional instruments and acoustic guitar, notably every year at the massive Chennai Carnatic Music Festival, but also plays electric guitar in jazz groups and bands playing his own brand of multi-cultural music, in the US and all over the world. Truly eclectic in music and culture, he composes for film, arranges and performs film music (notably with A R Rahman), and teaches students from around the world. He founded and ran the Swarnabhoomi Academy of Music near Chennai, and is now based in New York.
