CAT Question of the Day
Read the following paragraph carefully and answer the question that follows.

Research in the British Medical Journal (BMJ) looking at long-term data for 100,000 people in five European countries found evidence confirming a link between atmospheric pollution and heart-attack risk. The BMJ study found that for each 5 µg/m3 increase in annual exposure to fine-particulate –Particulate Matter
(PM) 2.5 air pollution - thought to be the most damaging type, as smaller particles can penetrate deep into the body - there is a 13% relative increase in the incidence of heart attacks, even after taking into account other risk factors such as smoking. Similarly, rising levels of larger-particulate air pollution (PM 10) were also linked to heart-attack risk. Current EU legislation sets the annual mean limit on PM 2.5 at twice that recommended by the World Health Organization.

Which of the following can be validly concluded from the above?

OPTIONS

 1)
EU air pollution target is still too high for heart health.
 2)
Particulate air pollution causes heart disease.
 3)
There is no safe limit for exposure to PM 2.5.
 4)
Man-made pollution cuts the life expectancy of people living in the EU.
Tip of the Day
In verbal sections, when you have narrowed your options down to two and are confused between the two, it makes sense to mark one of them even though you might not be sure as the probability of getting it right is half whereas the negative mark, if you get it wrong, is much less than half.
Last year's Question of the day (19-Apr-13)
Draw a large circle and then draw two smaller circles inside the original such that all three circles are tangential to each other. Now, draw the maximum number of non-intersecting circles that are tangential to all three original circles. This is known as stage one in this construction. Continue in the same manner i.e. draw the maximum number of non-intersecting circles that are tangential to any three circles drawn till the end of the previous stage. Which of these expressions gives the total number of circles drawn after the completion of  n stages?
OPTIONS

 1)4n + 1
 2)3n − 1 + 2
 3)3n + 2
 4)3n + 1 − 2
 5)2n + 1 + 1
