CAT Question of the Day
The table above shows the 16 ODI teams playing in the ICC World Cup 2013 along with their ranks. The tournament has three knockout rounds followed by a final. In the first round, the team ranked 1st plays against the team ranked 16th (this is called Match 1), the team ranked 2nd plays against the team ranked 15th (this is called Match 2) and so on. In the second round, the winner of Match 1 plays the winner of Match 8, the winner of Match 2 plays the winner of Match 7 and so on. In any round, if a lower-ranked team beats a higher-ranked team, it is termed an 'upset'. The only upset in the first round is caused by Ireland (Ire), which gets knocked out in the second round. If South Africa loses in the third round, which of the following is a valid scenario at the end of the World Cup?

OPTIONS

 1)
England beats Sri Lanka, India and Australia and wins the World Cup.
 2)
New Zealand beats England followed by India and wins the World Cup.
 3)
Sri Lanka beats Namibia, England, West Indies and Australia (in that order) to win the World Cup.
 4)
India beats Pakistan, Australia and England to win the World Cup.
 5)None of the above.
Tip of the Day
Make sure that you have read the entire passage before answering questions based on main idea. A half read passage may lead to a bias towards some options and make you ignore the other options.
Last year's Question of the day (21-Nov-12)
Answer the question based on the passage given below.

As Napoleon I, he was Emperor of the French from 1804 to 1815. His legal reform, the Napoleonic Code, has been a major influence on many civil law jurisdictions worldwide, but he is best remembered for his role in the wars led against France by a series of coalitions, the so-called Napoleonic Wars. He established hegemony over most of continental Europe and sought to spread the ideals of the French Revolution, while consolidating an imperial monarchy which restored aspects of the deposed ancien régime. Due to his success in these wars, often against numerically superior enemies, he is generally regarded as one of the greatest military commanders of all time.
Why is Napoleon one of the greatest military commanders of all time?
OPTIONS

1)Because the Napoleonic Code has been influential while drafting many civil law jurisdictions.
2)Because he consolidated all of Europe under one big kingdom.
 3)Because he won many wars.
4)Because of the Napoleonic Code and because he won many wars.
5)He beat armies that were greater in number than his own and established dominion over almost all of Europe.
