Widespread criticism of the incident dulled out the chance of composite dialogue with Pakistan which was scheduled in a few weeks over the Wullar Barrage. • Durga supported by Muslim clergy; UP government lashed for using communal shield. Durga Shakti Nagpal, an IAS officer, who was cracking down on illegal sand mining in Noida and Faridabad, has been suspended by the UP government for demolishing an under-construction mosque's wall and inciting communal harmony. The UP government has been highly criticized for suspending Durga. • Jet-Etihad deal likely to get approval from SEBI and CCI The Jet-Etihad deal is likely to get approvals from the SEBI and the CCI after both parties agreed to change their shareholder agreement to address control-related and other concerns. The direct and indirect control of the airline would remain with Jet, while Etihad would not get any excess power beyond its 24 percent stake. • FDI limit increased in Print media, telecom, defence and retail The Indian Newspaper Society (INS) has announced that the FDI limit in print media has been increased from 26 percent to 49 percent. The government has also raised the cap on FDI to 100% in telecom and more than 26% on a case-to-case basis in defence, and upto 49 percent in nine other sectors including single brand retail. • Washington Post sold to billionaire Amazon founder Jeff Bezos for $250 Million. The Washington Post has been sold to Amazon founder Jeff Bezos for $250 Million. The renowned newspaper has suffered a 44 percent decline in revenues over the past six years.
