The government has also limited the sale of subsidized cooking gas to 6 cylinders per year per consumer. The government has announced that the subsidies provided over cheaper fuels were hindering the country's overall economic growth as India was unable to meet the requirements of a growing budget deficit. • Anti-Islam video creates havoc, U.S. comes out strongly against it A film trailer which mocks Islam's Prophet was posted on YouTube in July but has created severe unrest now as it was noticed recently after an Egyptian television channel aired it and anti-Islam activists promoted it online. U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton released a statement calling the video 'disgusting and reprehensible' after anti-American sentiments started springing up. Google finally decided to ban the video in countries like Egypt, Libya, Indonesia and India but not the U.S. stating its compliance with the common law of particular countries and not its submission to political pressure. • Goa mining put to halt Last week the Goa government decided to suspend mining activity in the state in order to look into the matter of illegal mining which is heavily prevalent in the state. Environment Minister Jayanthi Natarajan has criticized the announcement of the Goa government by calling it "an attempt to fool people". • National Bank of Oman may tie up with Reliance Wealth Management India's Reliance Wealth Management and the National Bank of Oman have joined hands in order to serve the customers of National Bank of Oman with Reliance's investment products. While Reliance has its local expertise in dealing with investments specific to India, National Bank of Oman brings with it knowledge of onshore support platform which will help boost investments. • China witnessing anti-Japan protests The Japanese Embassy in Beijing witnessed thousands of people agitated over a dispute between Japan and China over a group of islands. The Chinese protestors threw bottles and stones on the Embassy walls and waved Chinese flags with national emblems and pictures of Chinese leaders like Mao Zedong and demanded an end to Japanese imperialism.
