Aseem, who had refused to seek bail as he believed he did nothing wrong, was to be in judicial custody till the 24th of this month. He fearlessly spoke outside Arthur Road jail after being released and said that the government needs to accept the uncomfortable realities of society which are depicted in the works of artists like him. • Man behind White Revolution no more Known as the father of India's White Revolution, Dr Verghese Kurien breathed his last on Sunday 9th September 2012. The reason for his death was stated as age-related problems. He was 90 when he expired. • ISRO celebrates century Indian Space Research has made the whole nation proud yet again. ISRO launched a Polar Satellite Vehicle which successfully orbited two satellites into space. This marked ISRO's 100th space mission. The first mission was launched in 1975 and was called "Aryabhata". • Bill Clinton for Barack Obama Bill Clinton spoke at the Democratic convention in full support of Barack Obama. He urged the citizens of the United States to give Barack a second term so that he could continue with his "strong economic policies". • Indian-American Sunita Williams breaks record Sunita Williams, the Indian-American NASA astronaut is the new record holder of the most cumulative spacewalk time completed by a female astronaut by surpassing Peggy Whitson. The previous record was a good thirty-nine hours and forty-six minutes whereas Sunita surpassed this with her present excursion making her total spacewalk time a whopping forty-four hours and two minutes. • Tech Mahindra to buy Hutchison Global Services Tech Mahindra's subsidiary Mahindra Satyam will come to its rescue as the former has decided to acquire Hutchison Global Services. If all goes as planned, Mahindra Satyam will lend Tech Mahindra a loan of close to 3,000 crore. Tech Mahindra is said to gain close to 900 U.S million dollars' worth of assured assets after this acquisition. • Akhilesh Yadav gives thumps-up for Unemployment Allowance Scheme Chief Minister Yadav has announced an Unemployment Scheme to help jobless able youth. Akhilesh along with his father Mulayam Aingh Yadav, who is a senior political leader, kick-started this scheme by distributing checks to more than 10,000 unemployed youth. • Cambridge not at the top in world university rankings; MIT new number 1 Massachusetts Institute of Technology, one of America's most honourable institutes, has topped the World University Rankings table by QS for the year 2012. MIT now holds the number one spot, toppling UK's Cambridge University.
