They have worked on a new card trick which they will be presenting in their new show “The Ultimate Illusion”. In this card trick, Robert asks a volunteer from the audience to select 5 cards at random from a regular deck which doesn’t contain Jokers. The volunteer will pass the five cards to Robert. Robert examines them and returns one of the 5 cards to the volunteer. Robert then arranges the other four cards and places them face down. Now, Alfred, who has no clue about which 5 cards were chosen or which card was given back as he had not been present during the proceedings, comes out and examines the four cards and determines the fifth card which is present with the volunteer. Note that Robert and Alfred do not communicate anytime between the start and the end of the trick. Their only mode of communication is the way the four cards have been arranged. There are no hand signals or encoded tags or speech pattern or marks on the cards i.e. there are no clues present in the orientation of the four cards or the way Robert acts or behaves which can let Alfred know about the fifth card.
