CAT Question of the Day Let Vr denote the sum of the first r terms of an AP whose first term is r and the common difference is (2r – 1). Let, Tr = Vr +1 – Vr – 2, then which of the following statement is definitely true?
| OPTIONS | | | | 1) | Tr is always an odd number | | 2) | Tr is always an even number | | 3) | Tr is always a prime number | | 4) | Tr is always a composite number |
Tip of the Day At times, in a reading comprehension question, the initial words of all or some of the options are same. This is done to increase the length of the options, thus making them difficult to interpret. The best workaround is to omit these common words and read only the uncommon part of the option. Last year's Question of the day (09-Jul-11) Point P(x, y) lies in the XY plane. The axes are rotated by an angle θ in the anticlockwise direction. The new co-ordinates of the same point are (x', y'). Which of the following holds?
| OPTIONS | | | | 1) | (x – x')(x + x') = (y – y')(y + y') cos2 θ | | 2) | (x – x')(x + x')cos θ = (y – y')(y + y') | | 3) | (x – x' )(x + x') = –(y – y')(y + y') | | 4) | (x – x' )(x + x') = (y – y')(y + y') |
