CAT Question of the Day Fill in the blanks in the passage with the most appropriate set of words from the options for each blank.
Understanding the nature of color, however, has proved ……………. task, despite the numerous fields that ……………… the project. Even knowing how to start can be difficult. Is color to be understood as an ……………….. part of reality, a property of objects with a …………….. similar to shape and size? Or is color more like pain, to be found only in …………….. and so somehow subjective? OPTIONS | | | 1) | a daunting, form part of, objective, dimension, experience | | 2) | an impossible, form part of, integral, dimension, suffering | | 3) | a daunting, contribute to, objective, status, experience | | 4) | an impossible, contribute to, integral, status, suffering |
Tip of the Day In fill-in-the-blank questions, be on the lookout for wrong options that are the exact opposite of the correct one. This is especially relevant when under time pressure, or when the words are of very high difficulty level. Last year's Question of the day (11-May-11) Formally, Bayesian networks are directed acyclic graphs whose nodes represent random variables in the Bayesian sense: they may be observable quantities, latent variables, unknown parameters or hypotheses. Edges represent conditional dependencies; nodes which are not connected represent variables which are conditionally independent of each other. Each node is associated with a probability function that takes as input a particular set of values for the node's parent variables and gives the probability of the variable represented by the node. For example, if the parents are m Boolean variables then the probability function could be represented by a table of 2m entries, one entry for each of the 2m possible combinations of its parents being true or false.
Which of the following can't be concluded from the passage?
OPTIONS | | | 1) | In the Bayesian sense variables can be of more than one type. | | 2) | The node's parent variables are inserted in the probability function to calculate the probability of the variable represented by the node. | | 3) | If m Boolean variables are the parent variables, the probability function can be represented by a table of 2m entries. | | 4) | Unknown parameters and hypothesis are random variables in the Bayesian sense. | | 5) | Disconnected nodes represent variables which are unconditionally dependent on each other. |
