CAT Question of the Day
From among the options, choose the summary of the passage that is written in the same style as that of the passage.

The Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) is a testament to the ability of US industrial lobbies, Congress, and presidents to obfuscate public policy. It is widely understood today that free-trade agreements (FTAs), whether bilateral or plurilateral are built on discrimination. That is why economists typically call them preferential-trade agreements (PTAs). And that is why the US government's public-relations machine calls what is in fact a discriminatory plurilateral FTA, a "partnership" invoking a false aura of cooperation and cosmopolitanism.
OPTIONS

1)The Trans-Pacific Partnership is an example of free-trade agreements being partisan influenced by the US industrial and political lobbies.
2)The discriminatory nature of Trans-Pacific Partnership is an example of free-trade agreements being influenced by the US.
3)Since free-trade agreements internationally are marked by discriminations, economists term them preferential-trade agreements of which the Trans-Pacific Partnership is an example.
4)FTAs are typically called PTAs by economists as all trade agreements are discriminatory the way Trans-Pacific Partnership is disguised as a partnership.
Tip of the Day
For any type of quadrilateral, its area is equal to half the product of its two diagonals and the sine of the angle between them.
Last year's Question of the day (09-Apr-11)
Immigrants to the Maritime Provinces and Southern Appalachian Mountains of North America brought the music and instruments of the Old World along with them for nearly 300 years. They brought some of their most important valuables with them, and to most of them this was an instrument: "Early Scottish settlers enjoyed the fiddle because it could be played to sound sad and mournful or bright and bouncy." The Irish fiddle, the German derived dulcimer, the Italian mandolin, the Spanish guitar, and the West African banjo were the most common musical instruments. The interactions among musicians from different ethnic groups produced music unique to this region of North America.

None of the following are untrue as conclusions in the context of the passage except:
  1. Immigrants to certain provinces of North America helped create unique music.
  2. Scottish settlers loved to express their music through emotions.
  3. Music and instruments of the Old World have evolved for nearly 300 years.
