Imports are low as stockists had already purchased large amounts in anticipation of rise in import duty. • Government implements National Pharmaceutical Pricing Policy to reduce rates of essential drugs by 80 percent The government has issued the Drug Price Control Order (DPCO), paving the way for implementation of the National Pharmaceutical Pricing policy which will reduce rates of medicines by 20-25 percent and in case of some life-saving drugs by as much as 80 percent. • Chinese Premier LI Keqiang visits India, pledges to resolve border issue Chinese Premier Li Keqiang visited India on Sunday, 19th May, in his maiden foreign trip after assuming office. Li urged the need to end the border row and also discussed trade ties and other bilateral issues with the Indian PM. • Yahoo to buy blogging service Tumblr for $ 1.1 bn Yahoo Inc will buy blogging service Tumblr for $1.1 bn in cash. This is the largest deal made by Marissa Mayer, since she took charge as CEO of Yahoo last July. • Indian-American teen Esha Khare invents world's first 20-sec charger An 18-year old Indian American teen, Esha Khare from Saratoga, California, has invented a tiny super-capacitor device that fits inside mobile phones and can potentially charge a cell phone in less than 20 seconds. • China resumes cyber attacks on US agencies Hackers working for the People's Liberation Army (PLA) of China have once again launched attacks on US government agencies and private organizations after remaining on the low for 3 months following direct accusations by the US administration. Hackers are targeting US defense contractor Lockheed Martin and companies with access to the nation's power grid.
