Each container contained either blue and/or yellow marbles. There were 3 marbles in each container, and the number of blue marbles was different in each one. There was a label for each container marked with the number of blue marbles in that container, but the labels got mixed up and so no container had the correct label on it. The king told each person to take 2 marbles out of their container, then read the label, and announce the color of the third marble. Each person was able to see what every one else was doing.
