Puzzle # 263 - "Spiral of Ants"
30-May-13
Two ants are crawling around a cylindrical tree trunk in a helical path (upwards and around the trunk) with different vertical speeds, one of them in the clockwise and the other in anticlockwise direction. Both the ants start from the same point on the ground and finally meet at a point, which is directly above the point where they started initially. During their complete motion, one of the ants had completed 7 revolutions around the tree while the other one had completed 15 revolutions. Between the starting and the final point, how many times did their paths cross each other?
